'Conclave' Oscar campaign off to late start with death of Pope Francis, 88
Catholics worldwide mourn the loss of Best Picture in 2025
VATICAN CITY - Do you remember what Hollywood product won Best Picture in 2025?
I don’t, and I’m not going to look it up.
I do remember Conclave, the movie based on the novel based on some religion, was up for Best Picture and did not win.
That’s why it’s so shocking their Oscar campaign kicked off early Easter Monday with the death of Pope Francis at the tender age of 88.
“We make-a da plan with the Focus Features. The Papa, she die at-a the beginning of Oscar season,” said the conservative (evil) vaping Italian Cardinal Mario Bowserini, “then da real-a conclave begins. The press coverage good for da movie and-a da Catholic church.”
Not all Cardinals agree, however. Cardinal Jack Goodguy, the liberal (good) non-vaping American, said, “Having Pope Francis die in service of some Oscar campaign is foolish. If he was going to die, he should’ve died when the movie was initially released. More people would see the movie, and then more Academy voters have Pope on the brain when they submit their ballots.”
How will the late start affect their Oscar chances? Well, some other movie about a stripper or a trans Mexican gangster already won Best Picture, so their chances aren’t good.
Or maybe that movie with the substance won. You know, that movie about the two women who took some kind of substance and the substance turned them into monsters? I think it was called Wicked. I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. The last good Best Picture winner was The Artist back in 2012.
